Vacherin Mont d'Or oven

Vacherin Mont d'Or, that is what this blog is all about. A delicious cheese that you can melt in the oven. Perfect for a charcuterie board and super easy to make. Think of it as a kind of mini cheese fondue. And since it is almost New Year's Eve, we could all use some snack inspiration, right?

Vacherin Mont d'Or is a seasonal cheese, by the way. You can only buy it between August 15 and March 15. By melting it in the oven, you can dip all kinds of delicious things into it. Think carrots, mushrooms, or bread. Season the cheese even further with thyme and rosemary. Besides being a snack with drinks, this cheese is also a perfect dinner for one. A mini cheese fondue. Are you crazy about cheese too? Let me know!

Ingredients for 1 serving: 1 Vacherin Mont d'Or, 200 g chestnut mushrooms, 250 g carrots, salt and pepper, olive oil, a few sprigs of thyme, a few sprigs of rosemary.

Here's how to make it. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius (fan-assisted).

Halve the carrots. Place them in an oven dish together with the chestnut mushrooms. Drizzle with olive oil and season with salt and pepper.

Remove the lid from the Vacherin, but leave it in the packaging. Prick it with a knife and insert the sprigs of thyme and rosemary.

Put everything in the preheated oven for 20 minutes.

Serve the Vacherin Mont d'Or with the roasted vegetables and optionally some bread or toast.
