Meringue Christmas trees
These aren't just any meringues, but meringue Christmas trees. A delicious sweet treat for the holidays. I love meringues, but I don't eat them very often. But that's purely out of self-protection, haha. These meringue Christmas trees are super tasty with coffee or as a snack.
Many people think that making meringues is difficult. Actually, it’s not that bad. The most important thing is that the egg whites are nice and stiff. And other than that, you don't have to do much. And these little Christmas trees are really easy, because you don't have to make fancy swirls. So, foolproof! I think it would also be fun to make these with the kids. They’ll surely enjoy decorating the meringue Christmas trees with sprinkles. And then, of course, eating them.
Ingredients for 6 pcs. 60 g egg white Pinch of salt Lemon juice 120 g sugar Sprinkles.
Materials Lollipop sticks Piping bag
Here's how to make it. Preheat the oven to 100 degrees Celsius (fan-assisted).
Beat the egg white until stiff in a grease-free bowl. Add a pinch of salt and a drop of lemon juice.
As soon as the egg whites stiffen, add the sugar little by little. Beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form. Put the egg whites in a piping bag.
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Place the lollipop sticks on the baking sheet. Use the piping bag to make Christmas trees in a zigzag motion. Decorate the meringue Christmas trees with the sprinkles.
Bake the Christmas trees for 60 minutes at 100 degrees Celsius. Then leave the oven door slightly ajar and let the meringue Christmas trees dry for another 15 minutes.
Let the Christmas trees cool on the baking sheet. You can store them in a cardboard cake box.
