Chocolate Sugar Cookies

Ingredients for the syrup

Ingredients for the Dough

  • 200 gr. flour – 1 + ¾ cups
  • 50 g cocoa – ¾ cup
  • 60 g powdered sugar – ½ cup
  • 25 g semolina – ¼ cup
  • 25 g almond powder – ½ cup

1 packet of baking powder – 10 g.

  • 125 g butter – at room temperature

chocolate chips

For the syrup: Add water and granulated sugar to a saucepan and stir until the sugar dissolves. Then bring to a boil. Add the lemon juice just before removing from heat.

For the dough: In a mixing bowl, combine room temperature butter and egg using a whisk. Add flour, cocoa, powdered sugar, baking powder, semolina, and ground almonds and mix. Knead by hand until the dough reaches a manageable consistency. Break off walnut-sized balls of dough, each weighing 30 grams, roll them into balls, arrange them on a glass baking dish, and press a chocolate chip into the center of each. Bake in a preheated oven at 180 degrees Celsius (350 degrees Fahrenheit) for 25-30 minutes. Pour the warm syrup over the baked sugarpare (Turkish semolina cookies) and let them soak in. After they cool, pour off any excess syrup and serve.
