Winelivery and Amorim: Joining Forces in Recycling Corks
The "Tappi x Tappi" campaign, promoted by Winelivery and Amorim Cork Italia on Earth Day, was an initiative welcomed with great enthusiasm by the community and an excellent opportunity to raise awareness about cork recycling.
"It was wonderful to see how enthusiastic our customers were about this initiative, embracing the opportunity to give corks a second life and support such an important cause. This project showed that together we can make a difference, even with small gestures," said Francesco Magro, CEO of Winelivery.
The next step in the project involves Winelivery donating the collected corks to the nonprofit organization A Braccia Aperte. This nonprofit organization supports families in need through various initiatives, including the free distribution of used children's clothing, hosting families with hospitalized children, and promoting volunteerism. The nonprofit organization will then deliver the corks to Amorim Cork Italia, from which it will receive compensation to support their cause.
Finally, Winelivery will install cork collectors provided by Amorim Cork Italia in its stores to continue contributing to the project's proper recycling and charitable support. Amorim Cork Italia, a world leader in the production of cork stoppers, will manage the recycling of the collected cork stoppers. The cork will be ground into granules, which will be used as a new raw material for a variety of applications, from green building to design, demonstrating once again that cork is a 100% recyclable material.
"A remarkable achievement, the fruit of Winelivery's initiative and sensitivity. These 3,000 collected corks are only at the beginning of their second life, which is now beginning through Amorim Cork Italia's sustainable supply chain. We are grateful to such dedicated and vibrant organizations, who network for a greater good than visibility or profit; they are indeed capable of building genuine relationships that will make the world a better place. We hope that collaborations like this will become more and more common in Italy," said Carlos Veloso dos Santos, CEO of Amorim Cork Italia.
With the “Tappi x Tappi” project, Winelivery and Amorim Cork Italia have demonstrated how companies can be drivers of positive change by promoting sustainability and social commitment practices and offering customers a tangible way to contribute to the common good.
