A D.C. Star Chef Will Head Up the Newest Danny Meyer Restaurant

Washington, D.C. chef Marjorie Meek-Bradley is joining Union Square Hospitality Group’s revamp of the city’s only revolving restaurant. The View is at the top of the Marriott Marquis in Times Square, and it’s on track to reopen in February. Meek-Bradley will offer a raw bar, American classics, and showy desserts.

Meek-Bradley, who is from Northern California, had worked in Starr Restaurant Group restaurants in D.C., such as beer hall and restaurant Roofers Union, New American restaurant Ripple, and Washington’s location of St. Anselm (for which she was named Eater D.C.’s Chef of the Year in 2018). In New York, she has worked at Starr spots like French restaurant Pastis and California-ish Upland. More recently, she was the culinary director of New York City social club the Core Club. She was also a Top Chef contestant in season 13.

Midtown food hall gets new name

Last spring, Hospitality Firm — owned by longtime restaurateur Steve Hanson, founder of BR Guest restaurants like Dos Caminos, Fiamma, and Blue Water Grill, joined by Alex Gaudelet, also a BR Guest alum — announced it was taking over the New York food halls that were run by Urbanspace. That includes what had been Urbanspace Vanderbilt inside the Helmsley Building at 230 Park Avenue near 45th Street, and Vanderbilt Avenue in Midtown. Now called the Vanderbilt Market, the space includes a full bar and 15 food vendors, such as Bash Burger, Mysttik Masaala, and ramen bar Kuro-Obi.

Pizza slice shop goes permanent

Stretch Pizza, from chef Wylie Dufresne and Breads Bakery owner Gadi Peleg, is turning its slice pop-up into a permanent offering. The slice shop debuted in early December 2024 with the pizza restaurant at 331 Park Avenue South, at East 24th Street. The menu includes standard slices as well as fancy ones. As part of this change, Stretch is swapping out its decadent truffle slice for the new sausage-onion-hot date syrup.
