Can salsa get any better? Smoky, spicy, sweet, and complex – this grilled salsa brings maximum flavor to the plate and outshines all others. The secret to its full aroma: seasonal vegetables are roasted on the grill until they are caramelized and smoky.
Ingredients · Servings 2
- 1 Flanksteak
- 2 tbsp Monini Classico – Extra Virgin Olive Oil
- 4 tomatoes
- 1 onion
- 1 red bell pepper
- 2 toes of garlic
- 1 lime
- 1 green chili
- 2 tbsp Monini GranFruttato - Extra Virgin Olive Oil
- Salad (for serving)
- Salt
- Pfeffer
Method · 35 min
- Preheat a grill pan or grill to high heat. First, prepare the salsa: Peel and halve the onions. Halve the bell peppers, remove the seeds and stems. Peel the garlic and quarter the lime. Then grill the whole tomatoes, onion and bell pepper halves, garlic, lime wedges, and green chili on the grill or in a grill pan for about 3-4 minutes, turning frequently, until the vegetables have many dark spots. Set everything aside and let it cool.
- Season the steak all over with salt and rub with a little Monini Classico olive oil. Then place it on the hot grill or grill pan and grill for about 4–5 minutes per side, until it reaches the desired level of doneness. Remove the steak from the grill and let it rest for about 5 minutes. In the meantime, continue with the recipe.
- Finely dice the grilled vegetables or chop them in a food processor. Then place them in a bowl and season with Monini GranFruttato olive oil, the juice of the lime wedges, salt, and pepper. Mix everything well.
- Slice the rested flank steak into thin slices and serve with the grilled salsa and fresh salad.
