Two of London’s Most Famous Restaurants Are Hosting New York Pop-Ups
Dishoom, one of London’s most famous restaurants, known for its Indian cooking, has already received an outsized response (more than 20K likes), announcing a forthcoming pop-up at Pastis. Reservations open on August 1 on Resy, for events that will run from August 19 to 23 and from August 26 to 30.
Neptune Diner shuttered over the weekend
News began circulating last week that it was the last call for Astoria’s Neptune Diner, at 3105 Astoria Boulevard North, a Greek spot that has been a staple for four decades that sat beside an NW train entrance. Sunday, July 28 was its last day; and customers are mourning the loss. While the Katsihtis brothers owned the building, the land reportedly sold for $10 million in 2018; a lease expired in 2019, and they were not able to come to a new agreement, ABC7 reports. It will be replaced by new construction housing.
Ha’s Đặc Biệt signs on a restaurant
Anthony Ha and Sadie Mae Burns are the chefs behind Ha’s Đặc Biệt. This Vietnamese American pop-up, with serious fanfare in New York, has traveled around the world, and now, is finally planting roots. The duo will take over 297 Broome Street, the former home of Gem Wine, on the Lower East Side. An announcement was made on their Instagram last week.
Apollo Bagels is opening another location
Joey Scalabrino’s Apollo Bagels began as a pop-up at his Williamsburg pizzeria Leo. Earlier this spring, Apollo Bagels opened as a standalone spot in the East Village, immediately drawing lines. Now Scalabrino and his team are planning to open an outpost in the West Village at 73 Greenwich Avenue, and West 11th Street.
