Another West Midtown Restaurant Has Closed
“See you around!” reads the Bartaco website. The taco joint’s West Midtown location has closed, joining a string of restaurants in the neighborhood that have shuttered recently. It served its last dinner service on May 5, Cinco de Mayo.
“We’ve loved being part of the West Midtown community and are deeply grateful to our guests, neighbors, and team who made it such a special chapter for us.”
“After an incredible 10-year run in the neighborhood, this closure simply marks the natural end of our lease,” says Robert Pecorino, Atlanta Regional Director of Bartaco, in a statement to Eater. “We’ve loved being part of the West Midtown community and are deeply grateful to our guests, neighbors, and team who made it such a special chapter for us.”
In recent months, more than a dozen restaurants have closed in the neighborhood, with eight shutting their doors in January alone. Owners and chefs blame the lack of in-person diners and slumping sales, and many diners blame the lack of parking and rising costs to do so.
rising costs of parking in the city, the Interlock in West Midtown announced on May 1 that it reduced its rates with hourly parking costing about $3. The development houses restaurants like Kinjo Room, Drawbar, Puttshack, St. Germain French Bakery and Cafe, and Velvet Taco, among others.
