Baked cauliflower with potatoes

Baked cauliflower with potatoes is a simple and satisfying dish that will delight you with its delicate flavor and golden cheese crust. Great for a family lunch or a quick dinner when you want something honest and meatless.

Ingredients · Servings For 4 people
  • 600 g potatoes
  • 1 head of cauliflower
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 150ml milk
  • 200 ml whipping cream
  • 150g cheese
  • 1 pinch nutmeg
  • chive
Method · 1 h
  1. Peel the potatoes, wash them, cut them into wedges and boil them for 5 minutes in salted water. Clean the cauliflower, cut it into florets and add it to the potatoes. Cook for another 3-5 minutes and then drain.
  2. Peel the garlic and onion. Finely chop the garlic, halve and slice the onion. Grease a baking dish (25 x 25 cm) with butter.
  3. Sauté the garlic and onion in a pan with 1 tablespoon of melted butter for about 2–3 minutes.
  4. Mix the sautéed onion and garlic with the potatoes and cauliflower. Spread into a baking dish. Preheat the oven to 180°C.
  5. Beat the eggs with the milk and cream and stir in half the cheese. Season the egg mixture with nutmeg, salt and pepper. Pour over the vegetables and sprinkle with the remaining cheese. Bake in the preheated oven for approximately 25 minutes.
  6. Finely chop the chives. Sprinkle them over the finished baked cauliflower and potatoes and serve.
