A Brooklyn Seltzer Festival Judged by an ‘Uncut Gems’ Director Is Happening Soon
A festival honoring all-things seltzer is happening in Brooklyn next month with a notable celebrity judge. The Brooklyn Seltzer Museum’ s Brooklyn Seltzer Fest includes the National Egg Cream Invitational, where soda jerks will compete to see who can make the best bubbly milk-syrup-seltzer concoction.
The rest of the festival includes seltzers from around the world, food like doughnuts from Greenpoint bakery Peter Pan Donuts, history lessons and panels, an egg cream workshop, and more. It takes place on Sunday, March 16 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Sunset Park venue Industry City. Tickets are $36 for adults and free for kids 17 years old and younger. The museum is within the city’s oldest family-run seltzer factory, Brooklyn Seltzer Boys.
NYC taco chain opens near Wall Street
New York taqueria chain Los Tacos No. 1 opened its newest location in the Financial District this month at 67 Exchange Place, between New and Broad streets. It’s the restaurant’s eighth location in the city, serving up its tacos, tostadas, quesadillas, and more.
Houston Indian restaurant previews New York spot with a dinner
Ahead of Houston Michelin-starred Indian restaurant Musaafer’s eventual New York expansion, it’ll preview its menu with a tasting-menu dinner at a Michelin-starred New York Chinese restaurant Yingtao this week. The nine-course collaborative dinner with includes Indian and Chinese dishes, such as lychee ceviche and abalone served with preserved enoki, daikon, and sweet rice. It takes place at Yingtao’s Hell’s Kitchen space tonight on Tuesday, February 25 at 5 p.m; the $225 dinner can be booked online. Musaafer’s New York restaurant will open in the spring.
