The best street food restaurants in the “Italian cuisine” category in Lower Saxony

The pizzaioli here not only have a knack for baking the delicate pizza dough perfectly in 90 seconds at 480 degrees after it has rested for several days, but they also prepare the toppings with a delicate touch. When it comes to the best pizzas in town, Bestia is right up there with the best.

A bustling culinary hotspot. At the heart of their work is sourdough, which is transformed into magnificent pizzas and paninis in a stone oven. Many guests also simply stop by for a glass of wine and some snacks. The selection may not be huge, but the quality more than makes up for it.

Simply a relaxed pasta bar. The pasta is freshly prepared and served in variations like puttanesca or carbonara. Add a decent glass of wine – and you're ready to end the day! That's also when the bar is at its liveliest.

The small restaurant is packed with food lovers after work, because owner Giorgio Marchioretti knows how to do more than just fill their stomachs. He prefers to source his ingredients directly from his native Piedmont, because compromising on quality is out of the question!

Pasta with lemon sauce, mushrooms, or Bolognese: This small eatery offers only about eight dishes, but they are freshly and expertly prepared. The smooth, creamy pesto Genovese is made in a mechanical mortar and pestle. Foodies will rejoice.

For many years, Francesca & Fratelli's pizzas were at the forefront of the city's pizza scene. Today, the local restaurant chain has to share the top spot with other providers. But that doesn't diminish the pizza bliss of those who find their way to one of their four locations.

They offer pizzas (like "Burratina") or pasta (like "Aglio e Olio") at a good price-performance ratio. The atmosphere is pleasant. Two things are a bit unusual: The restaurant is attached to the tennis club and borders the zoo… If you hear loud cackling, it might be monkeys.

The quality of the snack bar has now become well-known in the old town: There is always a queue of hungry customers at the serving window, enjoying the pizza sandwiches made from homemade dough, delicious with toppings such as ham, Parmesan cream, tomatoes and rocket.

The personal hospitality and fresh, uncomplicated Italian cuisine of Bernardo and Marcella Locacciato attract a large number of people, especially after work, who come to recharge their spirits with a plate of pasta, a glass of wine and a chat before heading home.

When the place is bustling, it quickly becomes clear that the restaurant's atmosphere thrives on its regulars. People chat, drink – and of course, eat: sometimes a fine meal, sometimes just a snack, but always with an Italian flair. Great pizzas!

What makes Gianni's special is their expertise in everything, from preparing excellent pizzas and pasta to dishes like "Saltimbocca alla Romana" or sea bream with olives and cherry tomatoes, all of which can be ordered without any trouble. Available every day of the week!

Steaks and lamb rump are also available, but guests primarily choose from the wide variety of excellent pizzas and pasta dishes. It's not just the pleasant outdoor terrace that attracts residents from the Kleefeld district: the restaurant is open all week, including lunchtimes.

While Hawaiian pizza might seem like sacrilege, the menu at Pizza Punks presents a decidedly mainstream vibe: Margherita, Salami, Funghi, and the like. So not nearly as punk as you might think – except perhaps for the graffiti on the walls. The food and service are good.

Some say this is where you'll find the best pizza in town, which is quite a claim considering places like Ombra or Bestia. In the List district, Bistro Da Toni is undoubtedly one of the better restaurants, and it's also attractively priced – they offer affordable lunch specials!

The chain can be proud of its delicate pizza dough, which is also well-made in Hanover. However, the quality of the toppings is where things start to go wrong. They also offer pasta dishes served in pizza bread bowls – such as carbonara, which has little in common with the classic version.
