Driftwood, shell necklaces and the bistro “Like Home”: Morsum welcomes autumn
The easternmost village on the island has a remarkably relaxed way of marking the change of seasons. Not with a program of events, but with a market. On Saturday, October 3rd, and Sunday, October 4th, the Morsum cultural association invites everyone to the "Golden Autumn" market at Muasem Hüs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Around 20 exhibitors are present, and the list of their wares is, in the best sense, a list without any attempt at condensation: driftwood art and shell necklaces, knitted items and jewelry, greeting cards and agricultural products. You can find a gift, a souvenir, and a jar of jam here in an afternoon, and no one will tell you that this is part of a concept.
The art group of the cultural association will present their new works, and the weavers will be happy to let visitors watch them at work – which, incidentally, is the best way to experience a craft: simply strolling by and without prior registration. The library will also be open, offering affordable used books and current titles about Sylt. And because a market without food would only be a stroll, the team from the "Like Home" bistro will be providing food and drinks. The name isn't just a claim at this market, but a rather apt description of the atmosphere.
For those who haven't quite let go of summer yet: This weekend is perfect for that.
