Trafford Centre Zizzi restaurant bosses speak out with shutters down and 'we are not right now trading' sign

Zizzi, situated in the Upper Orient, has been a mainstay of the shopping centre for a number of years for its Italian-inspired food, including pizzas, pastas, and sharing plates. The restaurant chain began life in 1999 with its first restaurant in London’s Chiswick. It now has around 137 stores across the country, including sites at Piccadilly Gardens and the Corn Exchange.

Signs outside the chain's Trafford Centre store this week have informed diners that the Zizzi restaurant is currently ‘not trading at the moment’, due to ‘circumstances outside our normal service’. A spokesperson for the shopping centre has corroborated the restaurant is currently facing issues with its 'extraction system'. In a sign at the restaurant, diners were advised: "We're sorry, but this restaurant is currently not trading.

Due to circumstances outside our normal service, we are unable to open for trading at this time. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding.” Customers were also advised to visit the Zizzi website for updates on when it will close, with those with existing bookings in addition asked to get in touch directly for further details.

The signs added: “Please check our website, booking platform, or social media channels for the latest updates before visiting. If you have an existing booking or query, please contact the restaurant team or customer support for assistance.

Thank you for your patience and understanding." A Trafford Centre spokesperson has verified the restaurant has been forced to temporarily shut but explained it is set to reopen on Saturday (August 29). That said, shoppers are advised to check online first in case the situation changes. A Trafford Centre spokesperson told reporters: "Zizzi at Trafford Centre is temporarily ceased trading due to an issue with its extraction system.

Repair work is currently being carried out, and the restaurant will re-open its doors tomorrow (Saturday 29th August). We recommend checking directly with Zizzi for the latest updates before visiting." A Zizzi spokesperson said: "Our restaurant in the Trafford Centre is currently shut down due to engineering works taking place. We’re working closely with contractors and the Trafford Centre team to make the necessary fixes as quickly as possible, so we can return to serving our shoppers’ favourite dishes this weekend.

"We have been in touch with all shoppers who had a booking during the closure period to rearrange their meal. It is also home to a £2.50 summer fare event and a pop-up van from SpudBros, which has both proven popular with families over the school holidays.

The Shopping centre as well of late verified works to upgrade its main dome are now complete, which included the introduction of a set of new eco-friendly escalators. The new-style escalators are more eco friendly as bosses aim to reduce carbon emissions across the site. The refurbishment comes as the Trafford Centre's Odeon Cinema, also in the main dome, has unveiled its own upgrade is now complete.
