Close by to the Cluny Court exit of Botanic Gardens is Bee’s Knees. This pet-friendly restaurant is situated on the ground floor of dining hub The Garage.

They’ve revamped their menu, with Asian-inspired dishes. We loved the Spicy Duck Loaded Fries ($18.50++), loaded with Sriracha cream and mozzarella, as well as the Fiery Shrimp Pizza ($31++), which comes with a peppery squid ink garlic aioli base.

If you’re a regular at East Coast Park, give East Coast Commune a shot when you’re there next. This cafe easily wins top spot for prettiest hangout in ECP to date, with a menu that includes sourdough waffles, sandwiches, and pasta. • 5. Wildseed Cafe @ The Alkaff Mansion

Set in a colonial black-and-white, Wildseed Cafe @ The Alkaff Mansion has all sorts of feels that brings me back to a sultry summer afternoon I spent at Kew Gardens in London. This pet-friendly floral cafe has a charming conservatory that you’ll love for the ‘Gram, but maybe not the heat. Don’t let this put you off yet, because there are also air-conditioned seats indoors.

You’ll find your usual brunch suspects here, such as the vegetarian Smashed Avocado With Mushroom ($19++), and Bagel Eggs Benny ($18++), which features toasted bagels in place of English muffins. Located at Singapore’s Southern Ridges is another Canopy Garden Dining outpost. The stunning decor reminds us of Balinese resorts, giving you island getaway vibes without needing to hop on a plane. The Western-centric menu here has brunch and all-day dining options, with their Rosemary Chicken ($25++) being praised for being a well-prepared rendition of the chook.

Opened by the folks behind Singapore’s beloved Wheeler’s Estate cafe, Wheeler’s Tropikana gives Bali beach club vibes through and through. The cafe is tucked within Gillman Barracks, near Telok Blangah Hill Park.

The venue also hosts live music performances and is a regular pick for intimate wedding ceremonies, so you know it promises a lively atmosphere and stellar aesthetics. Food-wise, they’re all about Australasian cuisine.

Located along the Parkland Green strip at East Coast Park, St. Marc Bakery & Bar has mains like Oyako Don ($16++) and Japanese Curry Chicken Udon ($19++).

What they’re most famous for are their desserts, though. They have a range of Waffle Cone Soft Serves ($7++ each) with fascinating names like Geisha, comprising red beans and condensed milk, and Madonna, which features frozen strawberries and chocolate sauce.

Regulars also love their Fuji series ($9++ each), a range of puff pastry desserts topped with vanilla soft serve ice cream that is meant to look like a snow-capped Mount Fuji. Get yours topped with red beans and matcha powder, frozen berries with strawberry sauce, or chocolate sauce and sliced bananas.

Another charming spot within East Coast Park is Fico, a casual Italian eatery with gorgeous al fresco seating. With swaying lalang, colourful blooms, and a view of the coast before you, the atmosphere gives major out-of-Singapore vibes. What’s more, the outdoor area is pet-friendly, making this the perfect place to fuel up after a seaside stroll.

Their specialty is the “focaccina”, a focaccia-pizza hybrid. It’s made with 80% semola flour, which is like semolina but milled twice for an even finer consistency.

The result is a super light and airy dough with a crisp exterior. Go classic with the San Marzano Tomatoes Focaccina ($23++) which has bufala mozzarella and basil leaves, or opt for the Red Onions Of Acquaviva Focaccina ($18++) if you have a more adventurous palate—it comprises goat milk blue cheese, fried sage, and honey.

In the argument for Singapore’s best side, the East definitely scores a point with Georges @ The Cove. This laidback and pet-friendly bar and restaurant in Pasir Ris Park will whisk you away from hectic city life, letting you dine while facing the coastline.

Recommended dishes include their Grilled Miso Sea Bass ($24.90++), Chilli Mussels ($23.90++), and Georges “Cop The Lot” Burger ($20.90++)—featuring a hefty 180g beef patty. The setting is perfect for hangout sessions with the squad, chatting it up amidst the sea breeze.

Tiong Bahru Bakery outlets are aplenty, but the Fort Canning branch sits you right smack in the thick of Fort Canning Park—perfect for pre- or post-hike sustenance. The al fresco area is pet-friendly, so you and your fur kid can both enjoy the fresh air and surrounding nature together.

Aptly named because it’s situated in the Ginger Garden area of Botanic Gardens, The Halia is a European-Asian fusion restaurant with dishes catering to the whole family. Indulge in their Tasmanian Striploin ($62++ for 300g) or Grilled Barramundi ($38++), while the little one tuck into kids meals such as Crab Pasta and Cheeseburger ($12++ each), inclusive of milk or Ribena.

Paying homage to its location and namesake, The Halia has a selection of both dishes and drinks featuring ginger. Tucked within the Botanic Gardens, Pangium is a reservations-only restaurant encased in an ultra-modern glasshouse. With plenty of flora surrounding the architectural feat, you’ll feel as if you’re dining in a private penthouse in a secluded forest. With a range of curated tasting menus priced $198++ and $258++ for lunch and dinner sessions respectively, this is a top-tier, Michelin-approved experience well worth saving up for.

Each meal consists of a starter, six to seven savoury courses, and two types of desserts to round things off, one of which is a platter of various kueh. Expect contemporary reimaginations of Peranakan and Straits Chinese cuisine here, with staples like kueh pie tee, ngoh hiang, buah keluak, and laksa executed with supreme flair and refinement. And of course, plated in a super atas fashion.
