A latte made without cow's milk and with good espresso: the drink of the moment that everyone loves.

It's not a milkshake or a coffee slushie, it's prepared in just a few minutes and is pleasantly refreshing: this is the latte drink.

It's not a milkshake or a coffee slushie, it's prepared in just a few minutes and is pleasantly refreshing: this is the latte drink.

It's not a whipped latte or an iced cappuccino. It's become the trendy drink and is very light, even suitable for people with lactose intolerance and vegans. We don't use cow's milk, but no one will notice the difference.

How long does it take to prepare this delicious treat? It's truly surprising, as it only takes 5 minutes. That's the time it takes to prepare the coffee and mix it with the milk. The ice takes care of cooling it, and the effect is immediate.

A dairy-free drink, the best right now: why you shouldn't use cow's milk.

We're increasingly using plant-based milks because they're an excellent alternative to traditional cow's milk. For vegans and people with lactose intolerance, they're essential, while for everyone else, they're a conscious choice. When I make milk-based drinks, I usually opt for soy milk, but I could easily use oat, rice, or almond milk. Almond milk, like soy milk, has a lower saturated fat content than cow's milk. It's also cholesterol-free and generally available without added sugar.

  • Ingredients (for
  • 2 glasses): 4 cups of espresso coffee
  • 250 ml of soy milk
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 3 tablespoons of brown sugar
  • 1 pinch of cinnamon, ice cubes to taste

Step-by-step preparation of the drink of the moment.

Start by preparing two cups of espresso for each person. Choose a full-bodied blend that will balance the sweetness of the other ingredients. Capsule coffee is fine, but a moka pot will also work, depending on how much time you have. Take a cocktail shaker, add the brown sugar and a teaspoon of vanilla extract; but don't overdo it, as it's quite strong. Some people add a pinch of ground cinnamon for extra flavor, but I think that's enough. Add some ice cubes and then pour the espresso into the cups.

Close the shaker with its lid and, as if you were preparing a regular cocktail or iced drink, shake well. Take your favorite glass, whether round or tall, and pour the contents into the shaker. Finally, slowly add the soy milk or other plant-based milk.

As you pour it, notice the beautiful visual effect created by the black coffee and clear milk in the glass. Finally, stir everything with a long spoon and wait for the ice to do its work. The latte is ready: place a straw in each glass and enjoy it slowly.
