Small Batch releases pomegranate-driven sparkling mead
Mudgee’s Small Batch Brewery and Hop Farm has teamed up with local producer Aril Estate to brew a limited-release pomegranate-driven sparkling mead.
“This Sparkling Mead is crisp, juicy, lightly tart – and way too easy to drink! It’s the incredible combination of the local fruit, and the local honey – it really is Mudgee in every naughty little bubble.”
Known for producing unique and limited release beers using locally sourced ingredients, Small Batch’s latest release pays further homage to Mudgee produce. Bringing together Aril Estate’s homegrown pomegranates and golden Mudgee canola honey, the fermented Small Batch Sparkling Mead offers a crisp, tart, yet sweet palate, brewed at 5.2 per cent ABV.
Small Batch Co-founder and Head Brewer, Anton Van den Berg, says: “This Sparkling Mead is crisp, juicy, lightly tart – and way too easy to drink! It’s the incredible combination of the local fruit, and the local honey – it really is Mudgee in every naughty little bubble.”
The new release is available exclusively from Small Batch Brew and Hop Farm – where the microbrewery is surrounded by 40 acres of scenic farmland – and local venues Pipeclay Pumphouse and Gigi’s Restaurant.
Aril Estate Co-founder, Andrew Hadjichari, added: “We are thrilled to see our pomegranates used in such a creative way. We are just at the start of our pomegranate season, and this fruit is only going to get sweeter and more packed with flavour as the months go on.
“The Small Batch Sparkling Mead is a celebration of Mudgee’s incredible produce – we love seeing local businesses coming together to make something truly special.”
The collaboration is an example of Small Batch’s ongoing commitment to showcasing the best of local Mudgee produce. The brewery has previously collaborated with local truffière OakShade Truffles to infuse a limited-release vanilla stout with local truffles, and more recently joined forces with small-batch Mudgee winery 791 Estate to produce Batch 791 – a beer crafted with Cabernet Sauvignon and Enigma and Nelson Sauvin hops.
