Fiery pork leg with potato pancakes

Juicy pork noodles are complemented by a colorful mixture of peppers, tomatoes and peas, which is pleasantly spiced up with chili, Worcestershire and Tabasco. The spicy mixture is served with golden-brown fried homemade potato pancakes, which perfectly complement it.

Ingredients · Servings 1 dose
  • For the meat mixture:
  • 600 g pork leg
  • salt
  • ground black pepper
  • chilli
  • oil
  • 1 onion
  • 1 yellow pepper
  • 250 g cherry tomatoes
  • 100 ml broth
  • 150 g frozen peas
  • 100 ml spicy ketchup
  • Worcestershire sauce
  • tabasco
  • For the potato pancakes:
  • 500g potatoes
  • 1 egg
  • milk as needed
  • 120 g plain flour
  • 4 cloves of garlic
  • marjoram
  • salt
  • ground black pepper
  • breadcrumbs as needed
  • frying oil
Method · 1 h
  1. Rinse the pork leg, pat dry and cut into strips. Season with salt, pepper, chili powder and mix with a little oil. Place the meat in the refrigerator.
  2. Peel, rinse and finely chop the onion. Wash the pepper, remove the seeds and cut into strips. Wash the cherry tomatoes and cut them in half. Set the vegetables aside for later.
  3. Wash, peel, finely grate and squeeze the potatoes thoroughly. Peel, rinse and press the garlic.
  4. Add the eggs, milk, plain flour, crushed garlic, marjoram, salt and pepper to the grated potatoes. Mix everything together.
  5. Thicken the batter with breadcrumbs as needed to achieve a suitable consistency for frying.
  6. Heat the oil in a frying pan. Form small potato pancakes from the dough and fry them until golden brown on both sides. Let the finished potato pancakes drain on paper towels.
  7. If we want to keep the potato pancakes warm, we leave them in the oven on a baking sheet at a temperature of 50 °C.
  8. Heat a little oil in a frying pan. Add the prepared meat and fry it vigorously, stirring constantly.
  9. Add the onion to the meat and fry briefly. Add the chopped pepper and fry briefly.
  10. Pour the mixture with the broth, stir and simmer briefly.
  11. Once the pepper has softened slightly, add the frozen peas and sliced ​​tomatoes. Simmer together briefly.
  12. Stir in the hot ketchup and let the excess liquid evaporate. Season with Worcestershire sauce and Tabasco, and salt if desired.
  13. Divide the spicy mixture among plates and serve with prepared potato pancakes.
