Five stars on Lake Garda: Falkensteiner opens new luxury resort
Where the mineral water company Tavina once stood, a new chapter is beginning for the hotel industry on Lake Garda. The Falkensteiner Michaeler Tourism Group has officially opened its Lake Garda resort in Salò. Around €150 million is being invested in the overall project, which includes a hotel and residences.
The completed resort will feature 85 rooms and suites, as well as 174 apartments. The first phase of construction is finished, and the second is underway. Four more villas are planned. The architecture and interiors are by Matteo Thun & Partners, while the landscape design is by João Nunes and PROAP. The resort caters to both families and couples: A 5,500-square-meter spa includes seven pools and a separate rooftop area for adults. There is also a dedicated children's play area.
Italy on the plate and in the glass
The dining options are spread across two restaurants and a rooftop bar. On the top floor is Artigiani, which offers breakfast and an evening buffet featuring Northern Italian and Mediterranean dishes. Live cooking stations and pizza stations complement the concept. At HOKU Restaurant & Lounge, the lunch menu ranges from fresh pasta to bowls and club sandwiches. In the evenings, Japanese influences are added, for example, in dishes from the teppanyaki grill. Fish, seafood, and vegetarian options are also available.
On the rooftop, the House of Negroni focuses on aperitivo with a lake view. Besides variations of the classic cocktail, the menu features Spritz, non-alcoholic drinks, and light meals. From 6 p.m. onwards, the restaurant, which is connected to the adults-only spa during the day, opens to all guests. This provides the resort with another dining option intended to appeal beyond hotel stays. For Falkensteiner, Salò also represents a step in its ongoing expansion in Italy.
