Apple crumble: 15 minutes preparation + 30 minutes in the oven
Store apple crumble
Ingredients · Servings 6
- 3 large apples
- 50 grams of fine granulated sugar
- 2 tsp cinnamon
- 75 grams of unsalted butter
- 100 grams of flour
- 100 grams of fine granulated sugar
- pinch of salt
Method · 45 min
- Peel the apples, remove the cores, and cut into cubes.
- Put the apple cubes, sugar, and cinnamon in an oven dish and mix well.
- Put all the ingredients for the shortcrust pastry into a bowl at the same time. Rub the butter between your fingers until smooth and knead into a firm but crumbly dough. You can also use a (hand) mixer for this step if you prefer.
- Distribute the crumble topping evenly over the apple mixture. It is okay if you still see some apple pieces here and there.
- Bake the apple crumble for 30 minutes at 200°C (top and bottom heat).
The crumble is best served immediately while still warm, especially with a scoop of ice cream. But fortunately, it keeps very well too!
How long can you store apple crumble?
Cover the dish with foil, and your crumble will keep for 3 days in the refrigerator. Optionally, let it come to room temperature before serving.
You could also perfectly well store the apple mixture in an airtight container, just like the crumble topping. Simply put both in the refrigerator. When you want to bake the crumble, put everything in an oven dish and follow the baking time and temperature from the recipe.
