Blancaneaux Lodge

The Blancaneaux Lodge was originally Coppola's holiday home; the landscape apparently reminded him of the Philippines where Apocalypse Now was filmed, with an added advantage: its proximity to California!

Of course, you won't need to break the bank to afford the owner's villa: more modest bungalows are also available, all in the same spirit, evoking both a rustic escape and unpretentious luxury; situated right on the edge where the carefully tended gardens blend into the wild rainforest.

This rainforest is, in fact, half of what makes Belize so appealing, and the same is true for Blancaneaux. Ultimately, it's not your room or the infinity pool you'll remember, but rather the setting, the spectacular scenery, and this lush, vibrant forest. And what it may lack in high-tech amenities, Blancaneaux more than makes up for with its offerings of outdoor activities, from whitewater rafting to exploring Mayan ruins, all accessible on foot, by bike, or on horseback. And once the day is over, you can enjoy authentic Guatemalan cuisine, wood-fired pizzas, and other hearty Italian classics, all paired with wines from Coppola's own estate.

Access:

The resort is a 2.5-hour drive from Belize Airport or a 35-minute charter flight. Blancaneaux is also a 3-hour drive from its sister resorts, La Lancha and Turtle Inn. Transfers and charter flights must be pre-booked.
