Buttermilk sponge cake

Buttermilk sponge cake is a proven classic that will delight you with its softness, delicate taste and easy preparation. It will perfume the whole home and, thanks to the combination of light and cocoa dough, it will impress not only with its appearance but also with its great taste.

Ingredients · Servings 1 where
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 0.5 cup oil
  • 1 pinch of baking powder (8-10 g)
  • 1.5 cups of semi-coarse flour
  • 1 tablespoon cocoa
  • Further:
  • butter for greasing the mold
  • coarse flour for dusting the mold
Method · 1 h
  1. Grease and flour a cake tin. Preheat the oven to 180°C.
  2. Mix the buttermilk with the eggs, sugar, oil and add the flour mixed with baking powder.
  3. Pour half of the batter into the cake tin. Stir cocoa into the other half of the batter and pour it over the white batter.
  4. Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for about 40 minutes. Check the baking with a skewer inserted into the cake. It must come out dry when removed.
  5. After baking, let the cake cool slightly and remove it from the mold.
  6. After cooling, cut into slices and serve as a sweet breakfast or snack.
