Airfryer Gambones

I wasn't very confident about the result, but I was wrong. As you know, when Christmas comes around, we usually bake king prawns, which are also cleaner and don't leave a terrible smell throughout the house. We've been cooking them for years, but we wanted to try them with the air fryer.

Honestly, I didn't lick the plate clean out of politeness. These prawns cooked in the air fryer are amazing! So amazing, in fact, that I sent Javi back to Mercadona to try them again and fine-tune the timing. I insist, you can buy bread and be generous with the oil... You won't expect this result.

I think by now we all know something about air fryers or use them at home fairly regularly. It's probably more of a mini-oven than a deep fryer, and depending on the model and the number of people in your household, you'll get more or less use out of it.

We have two Cosori pressure cookers, which I think I've shown you before. One is the Dual Blaze, which eliminates the need to flip many dishes halfway through cooking. The other is the basic 3.5L model, the first one we bought and the one we used this time. We've made quite a few things in general. Some turned out so-so (we couldn't get good churros, for example), and many others were quite delicious, which we've also shared here.

On the plus side, I'll say that I find it useful for quickly frying a fish fillet or making chicken drumsticks if I'm coming home from a shift or if Javi gets off work late and needs to whip something up quickly. It's true that we always use it when we're in a hurry or when we're alone.

For some dishes, we always use a paper towel to catch the juices. For example, in the prawn recipe, I've used one to prevent losing the juices and to be able to serve them on the platter. I've also included the ones we use. Remember, you can't put the paper towel in the dish without the food!

Big kisses!!!

  • For the shrimp:
  • 6-9 legs
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • a few parsley leaves
  • Sal Maldon
  • the stream of half a lime
  • A good drizzle of extra virgin olive oil.
  • You will need:
  • Baking paper for your air fryer.
  • Prepare a paste with the garlic, parsley, salt, lime juice and extra virgin olive oil.
  • Place the baking paper in the fryer, then the prawns on top - in my 3.5 liter fryer, 6-9 fit neatly arranged. Don't pile them up.
  • Brush with the garlic and parsley mixture. Bake for 6 minutes at 190ºC, turn them over and cook for another 6 minutes at the same temperature. Serve and eat.
