Salted popcorn with merkén - Pilar Hernández's Chilean Kitchen
I've been wanting to share my homemade popcorn recipe for a while now. Here in the US, the traditional kind you get at movie theaters is salted and buttered, but my version is this salted popcorn with merkén (a Chilean spice blend).
Ingredients · Servings 4
- 1/4 cup popcorn kernels (available at supermarkets or popcorn shops)
- 1 paper bag
- 2 tablespoons of butter
- 1/4 teaspoon of merkén
- shall
Method · PT-497396H59M22S
- In a small saucepan or in the microwave, melt the butter with the merkén.
- Place the corn in the paper bag and fold the top 2-3 times over itself, as seen in the photo.
- Microwave on full power for 2.5 to 3 minutes. This will depend on the power of your microwave. Stay near the microwave during cooking, and when you stop hearing the popping of the corn, it's ready.
- Take it out and open it carefully, there will be steam inside the bag.
- Pour into a large bowl and pour the butter with merkén on top and add salt, stir well for 1 minute so that everything is mixed and infused.
- Serve immediately.
