Iced Chocolate - Pilar Hernández's Chilean Cuisine

This recipe is totally inspired by my beloved Iced Coffee, and this iced chocolate is a perfect version for kids. Of course, it was a huge hit at my house, and they're already planning to make it a tradition.

Ingredients · Servings 2
  • 100 grams of chopped dark chocolate
  • 1 tablespoon of unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 3 tablespoons of sugar
  • 2 cups of milk
  • 1/2 cup of vanilla ice cream
  • 1/2 cup of Chantilly whipped cream, sweetened if desired
  • chocolate sprinkles for decorating
Method · PT-497396H58M59S
  1. In a small saucepan, place the chopped chocolate, cocoa, and sugar. Stir.
  2. Add 1/4 cup of milk and cook over medium heat, stirring until all the chocolate is melted.
  3. Turn off the heat and add the rest of the milk, stirring well until incorporated.
  4. Refrigerate until ready to use. Stir before use.
  5. Beat the cream in a cold bowl with a mixer for a couple of minutes, when it starts to form waves add 2 teaspoons of sugar and continue beating until stiff peaks form.
  6. To serve: in each glass place 1 cup of chocolate milk, vanilla ice cream and cream.
  7. Decorate with the sprinkles and serve immediately.

You can prepare the chocolate milk and whipped cream in advance and just assemble the ice cream right before serving. I take the ice cream out of the freezer about 10 minutes beforehand so it's not too hard and is easy to serve.

I hope you like it. Of course, you can adapt it: more ice cream, more cream, or less. And don't forget the chocolate sprinkles for decoration.
