The Castilian château of the Ribera del Duero
In 1988, the Fernández Rivera family planted the first Condado de Haza vineyards in Roa, Burgos, on the banks of the Duero River, creating an exceptional location characterized by vineyards at varying altitudes that rise to a natural viewpoint overlooking the riverbank.
To perfect its wines, the winery's structure was designed by excavating into a hillside, which also allowed for the creation of a bottle cellar in a tunnel almost 30 meters deep, maintaining the wines at optimal temperature and humidity levels. Thanks to its excellent work, in 2008 the renowned Wine Spectator magazine recognized Condado de Haza Crianza as one of the 100 best wines in the world.
Terroir and surroundings
Since 1993, Condado de Haza has become a 360º estate, where the entire life cycle of wine is managed, resulting in a range of Tempranillo wines of unique character, reflecting the particularities of the heterogeneous soils, predominantly clay with the presence of sand, in which it is grown.
Furthermore, Familia Fernández Rivera is deeply committed to the surrounding environment, and therefore, at Condado de Haza, they are dedicated to 100% organic production. This is reflected, for example, in their 20 Aldeas wine, a premium local wine that incorporates organic vineyard practices to enhance the expressiveness, elegance, and complexity of the grapes. Condado de Haza also produces Crianza, Reserva, and Gran Reserva wines.
The château: wine experiences beyond the wine itself
Within Vindesía, the wine tourism brand of the Fernández Rivera Family, "El Château" was born in Condado de Haza, offering a variety of wine experiences that allow for total immersion in this Castilian manor house and invite visitors to connect with the land through wines that are a clear tribute to Castile. In addition, the family group also owns the Hotel AF Pesquera, located just 30 minutes away at the foot of Peñafiel Castle.
