30 Years In, Alon’s Bakery Remains a Sandwich Staple in Atlanta
With all-day cafes multiplying across Atlanta, Alon’s Bakery & Market remains a neighborhood institution. Founded in 1992 by namesake owner Alon Balshan, the Morningside favorite still draws crowds for crusty loaves, stacked sandwiches, and a well-stocked gourmet market.

The bresaola panini ($16) layers paper-thin cured beef, Parmigiano-reggiano, and shaved fennel on ciabatta for a balanced bite of salty, sharp, and crisp. The smoked peppered turkey sandwich ($14.50) has earned cult status, piled high with avocado, sprouts, tomato, and smoky sliced turkey. Regulars know it’s best ordered on focaccia.
