Ingredients · Servings 1
- mint - 6 fresh leaves
- cane sugar - 2 tsp.
- lime - 1/2
- ice - cubes
- white rum - 30 ml Havana Club
- carbonated water - 100 ml
Method · 5 min
- To prepare a classic Mojito cocktail, it is important to use fresh and aromatic products, especially mint and lime, which give it the characteristic refreshing taste.
- First, place the fresh mint leaves in a suitable tall glass. Crush them lightly with your fingers to release their natural essential oils and aroma. Then add the cane sugar.
- Half a lime is squeezed directly into the glass, and if desired, a few small pieces of the lime itself can be added for a more intense citrus flavor.
- Using a wooden mallet or the handle of a wooden spoon, gently press the mint and lime to the bottom of the glass. The goal is not to crush the mint completely, but just to slightly release its fresh aroma and mix it with the sugar and lemon juice.
- The glass is then filled with ice cubes almost to the top.
- The white rum, which gives the cocktail its characteristic flavor, is poured over the ice. Finally, the carbonated water is added.
- Stir everything carefully with a long spoon to blend the flavors well without ruining the freshness of the mint.
- The Mojito glass is decorated with a slice of lime and a sprig of fresh mint.
- The Mojito cocktail is extremely pleasant, fresh and tastes like a vacation or, more precisely, a summer breeze.
