A country for drinking: Nation of Wines announces its sixth edition

With a carefully curated selection of wines from eight producing states and a special place reserved for wineries from San Luis Potosí, the guest of honor, Nación de Vinos returns as the epicenter of Mexican wine for its sixth edition.

As part of its 2025 edition, Nación de Vinos will pay posthumous tribute to Ricardo Vega, owner of Cuna de Tierra. The festival's sixth edition will welcome attendees by invitation only, but will also, for the first time, offer the option to purchase tickets through the Boletia platform.

Nation Space

In a format designed by sommeliers Sandra Fernández and Andrés Amor, Espacio Nación will bring together for the first time winemakers and winery owners with the most influential figures in the Mexican industry in a space designed to promote a serious and impactful meeting, with the aim of generating a communication link between wineries and the players who shape the market.

“From different categories such as specialty stores, consultants, restaurants, hotels, importers, distributors; we invite the 240 professionals who are shaping the market to taste directly with the owners and winemakers from a very organized working model to give the wineries an opportunity for greater growth, presence, better visibility and better sales within the framework of the event,” - Sandra Fernández.

Within the framework of Espacio Nación and the intimacy of the industry, three important events will be celebrated: a tribute to the legacy of Ricardo Vega, the presentation of the recognition for the oenological work 2024 and sustainability.

Pairing with deep roots

To complement the proposal from the 85 Mexican wineries, La Docena, Quintonil, Rosetta, Lilou, Arca Tulum, Chévere, Caracol de Mar; will showcase their preparations to create perfect pairings.

This is the most fun week in January to share Mexican wine with friends and enjoy delicious food. It's very important for us to be present at this festival because Mexican wine is a key element of our menu. I'm very proud of this industry, which is why we're promoters. We've been making our rosé wine at Viñas de Garza for over eight years and sell more than 600 cases of our wine annually in our restaurants,” – Tomás Bermúdez.

The restaurant lineup also includes four of Mexico's best bars: Handshake, the best bar in the world, Limantour, Rayo and Bekeb, San Miguel de Allende.

Through Mexican vineyards

The sixth edition of Wine Nation takes place within the context of a robustly growing industry, with increases in terroirs, production volume, and consumption. “Ten years ago, Mexico had 6,800 hectares producing wine; today we have reached 9,430 hectares, representing a growth of more than 40 percent. Thirty-nine out of every 100 bottles opened in the country are made here, and Mexican wine is sold across all price ranges: 33 percent for less than $300, 25 percent for less than $200, and the $300 to $500 range represents 45 percent,” highlighted Salomón Abedrop, president of the Mexican Wine Council.

According to Abedrop, the event is a very interesting opportunity, especially for small and medium-sized businesses, as it is free for wineries and allows them to showcase the best of their labels to potential buyers.
