Pumpkin Festival on Tiengemeten: from seed to soup
TIENGEMETEN – The nature island of Tiengemeten will be entirely dedicated to pumpkins on Saturday, October 17.
Spread across the island, visitors discover how a pumpkin grows from seed to harvest. Visitors can harvest and decorate a pumpkin themselves and learn more about the cultivation of this colorful autumn fruit.
Guides lead walks across the island and share stories about the nature and history of Tiengemeten along the way. Traditional crafts are also demonstrated. For children, there are OERRR nature activities and family walks with a Natuurmonumenten guide.
Creative visitors can participate in painting workshops at the Rien Poortvliet Museum. Various traditional Dutch games are available in the Orchard. The pumpkin also plays a leading role in the culinary realm: various pumpkin dishes are available at De Gezusters.
With this event, Natuurmonumenten and the museums bring together nature, heritage, and recreation. In case of bad weather, the activities are moved indoors.
An all-inclusive ticket is available for the Pumpkin Festival. This ticket includes the return ferry trip, participation in the activities, and admission to the Agricultural Museum and the Rien Poortvliet Museum.
A ticket costs 15 euros for adults. For children up to and including 12 years of age, the price is 10 euros. Children who are members of Natuurmonumenten pay 7 euros. Visitors can find reservations and more information on the Natuurmonumenten website.
