Huánuco: Producers from Monzón finalize sale of 100 MT of organic cocoa to French company
The Aprocaf Valle del Monzón Agricultural Cooperative, made up of producers from the district of Monzón, province of Huamalíes, Huánuco region, finalized a commercial agreement with the French company KAOKA for the sale of 100 tons of organic cocoa during 2026.
The agreement, signed in September 2026, stipulates that KAOKA will acquire the committed volume under Fairtrade conditions and with Fair for Life certification. The contract has a three-year term, renewable, while the final price will be subject to a pricing mechanism agreed upon by both parties.
For the farming families of Aprocaf Valle del Monzón, this agreement represents an opportunity to access specialized European markets and opens new marketing possibilities for their cocoa production. In this way, legal production is consolidated as an economic alternative for families vulnerable to drug trafficking.
Devida contributed to this result through its Associativity Activity, which provides organizational and commercial support to producer organizations in the Alternative Development sector. This support strengthens their capacities and creates conditions for securing commercial opportunities with specialized companies and buyers.
As part of this work, the National Commission for Development and a Drug-Free Life (Devida) promotes the participation of producer organizations in business roundtables, fairs, and other commercial networking events, where they present their products and establish contacts with national and international companies. These events can lead to purchase and sale agreements that generate new opportunities for producer families.
Cocoa destined for the European market must comply with organic and Fair Trade certification standards, as well as quality, traceability, and pesticide residue control requirements. Aprocaf Valle del Monzón also made commitments related to traceability and deforestation prevention, in accordance with the requirements of the European Regulation against Deforestation.
With this agreement, the producing families of Monzón have a new opportunity to market their cocoa and connect with international markets, as part of the legal economic alternatives promoted by Devida in the areas of Alternative Development.
