The Street of Colors: A neighborhood festival in Madonnella featuring art, music, and food
On Saturday, September 19, the Madonnella neighborhood of Bari will host the "End of Summer Festival," a new event of La Via dei Colori, a neighborhood festival organized as part of the Strade Vive municipal call for proposals and organized by the La Via dei Colori association, formed by Barproject Academy – Gallo Architettura – Buo' Bistrot Bio.
After the success of the three previous festivals, the corner of Via Ottavio Serena and Via Goffredo Mameli is ready to dress up again for the penultimate event on the program, which will make the area more lively and colorful.
During the events, panels were decorated and set up by four artists directed by Nico Skolp, an Apulian artist and muralist who has been active for over fifteen years and is a leading figure in the regional street art scene.
The street demonstrations offered a wide range of food and wine, with entertainment dedicated to food and agriculture: from mozzarella-making by a master cheesemaker to fresh pasta-making, from workshops on wild herbs to exhibitions on agricultural biodiversity, featuring displays of tomato, pepper, and other vegetable varieties. Demonstrations on salsa-making were also held. There was also a children's area and musical entertainment, in collaboration with Apuliart, as well as an exhibition of paintings curated by the Viviamo association.
For Saturday's event, "Sagra di Fine Estate – Festa agricola in città," from 6 pm to midnight, there will be organic street food and food workshops dedicated to making grape and fig vincotto and stuffed pasta, along with cocktails by BarProject. There will be dedicated spaces for the little ones, with a children's area and awareness-raising events such as a meeting with LAV Puglia on the topic of Stop the Hunting Bill.
The day will also offer a journey through biodiversity and creativity, with the La Zucca exhibition and the What Kind of Fish Are You workshop, curated by Sartoria Sociale Ricomincio da Me.
Rounding out the program are the Apuliart showcase, the Belly Second Hand vintage corner, and the live painting by Joh/LOS curated by the Wellness Club. The evening's soundtrack will be provided by Buonamico's Band, who will entertain the audience with live music until midnight, in a festive and participatory atmosphere.
