This Cork street is closing to traffic for a huge free autumn festival
This one gets better every year.
Cork’s Douglas Street is set to come alive this weekend as the annual Autumn Fest returns for a full day of family fun, live entertainment and community spirit.
Taking place on Sunday, September 6th, the popular ‘Village in the City’ event will transform Douglas Street into a festival space, with the road set to welcome visitors for an afternoon packed with circus, music, food, games and plenty more.
The free event will run from 12pm to 6pm, giving Cork families plenty of time to explore everything on offer.
There’ll be live music, UpDown Circus Carnival Games, free face painting, kids’ games, a craft fair and a tour of local artists’ and smiths’ studios.
Food will also be a major part of the day, with pizza making and paella among the activities promised, while a silent disco and dancing will add to the festival atmosphere.
There’s also a nod to Cork’s past, with local history featuring as part of the programme, giving visitors the chance to discover more about the area while enjoying the festivities.
The event is being organised by the Douglas Street Business Association, with support from Cork City Council, and is all about showcasing the community and businesses around one of the city’s best-known neighbourhoods. We love to see it.
