- Do not overfill the steamer to allow for good steam circulation.
- Prevent water from touching food during cooking.
- Add fresh herbs at the end to preserve their aroma.
- Serve the dish immediately after cooking to best enjoy its texture.

How do you know when steamed salmon is ready?
The salmon is cooked when it changes to a light pink color and flakes easily when pressed with a fork.
What vegetables go best steamed with salmon?
Broccoli, carrots, zucchini, asparagus, green beans, cauliflower, spinach, and squash are some of the best options because they retain their texture and flavor.
Is it possible to make salmon with steamed vegetables without a steamer?
Yes. You can use a heat-resistant metal colander over a pot of boiling water or a lidded steamer basket.
How long does it take for salmon to steam?
Generally between 8 and 10 minutes for medium-thick steaks. If they are thicker, it may require up to 12 minutes.
How to prevent salmon from drying out?
Respect the cooking time and cook only until the center is opaque. Excessive heat will cause it to lose its juiciness.
