The Hainan Story is running its $1.80 Chicken Run Weekday Madness promo exclusively at their Hotel Boss outlet, from 25 May to 12 June 2026. This limited-time offer is available daily, except for public holidays, from 11am to 10pm.

For just $1.80++, you get a plate of tender, juicy chicken served with fragrant rice—the classic combo we all know and love. You can choose between steamed or roasted chicken, depending on your preference.

One thing to note is that you won’t be able to pick your preferred chicken cut, and there’s a $1++ surcharge if you’d like a drumstick instead. Fans of Wee Nam Kee will also be pleased to know that The Hainan Story uses the same well-loved chicken rice recipe, so you can expect familiar flavours in every plate. The chicken rice was fragrant and packed with flavour, with soft, fluffy grains, though it was slightly on the greasy side.

The chicken was the highlight for us. Each piece was tender and silky-smooth, pairing nicely with the light soy sauce, which added a subtle sweetness without overpowering the meat.

While you’re there, don’t miss out on their iconic Swiss rolls, perfect for dessert or tea time! The Hainanese Pandan Coconut Kaya Roll ($3.70++ a slice) is a must-try, starring light and airy pandan-infused sponge cake filled with a fragrant kaya middle.

The Hainan Story Chapter One is a five-minute walk from Lavender MRT Station. The restaurant is well-received online, with a 4.2-star Google rating from over 1,300 reviews at the point of writing.
