The Secret to Making Banana Dessert with Rice Phyllo Dough
The water should ideally be at room temperature or slightly warm.
For the rice paper banana dessert, peel and halve 3 bananas. Melt 2 tablespoons of butter in a pan and add 3 tablespoons of brown sugar. When the sugar starts to melt, place the sliced bananas in the pan and caramelize both sides.
Remove the caramelized bananas from the pan and let them cool slightly.
Soak the first of 8-10 rice paper sheets in water for a few seconds to soften it. Sprinkle 2 tablespoons of sesame seeds and 3 tablespoons of finely chopped hazelnuts over the softened paper.
Place one of the caramelized bananas on top of the rice paper that you've sprinkled with hazelnuts and sesame seeds. Fold the edges of the paper inwards and roll it up tightly.
To prevent the pastry roll from bursting while baking, wrap it in a second layer of moistened rice paper to make a double layer. Do the same with the remaining bananas.
Melt the reserved 1 tablespoon of butter in a large pan. Place the rice wrapper-wrapped bananas in the pan and fry until golden brown and crispy on both sides. Your rice wrapper banana dessert is ready. Serve hot. Enjoy!
