Chocolate mug cake: easy recipe ready in 3 minutes

Who hasn't ever had that craving for chocolate cake, but given up on the idea because they didn't want to make a whole recipe? At times like these, a chocolate mug cake is the perfect solution.

The cake turns out fluffy and, to make it even better, the recipe includes a creamy chocolate sauce. It's a great option for afternoon tea, to serve as dessert, or even to enjoy while watching a movie at home.

Chocolate mug cake recipe

Preparation time: 15 minutes. Yield: 4 servings. Difficulty: Easy.

Mass

  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup of sugar
  • 3 tablespoons of butter or margarine at room temperature
  • 3 tablespoons of milk
  • 3 tablespoons of chocolate powder
  • 1 cup of wheat flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder
  • Margarine and wheat flour for greasing the mugs.

Hot

  • 5 tablespoons of sugar
  • 2 tablespoons of chocolate powder
  • 1 teaspoon of margarine
  • 1 tablespoon of milk

Preparation method

  • In a bowl, mix the eggs, sugar, butter, and milk until you have a smooth mixture.
  • Add the sifted wheat flour and chocolate powder, stirring until the dough is smooth. Finally, add the baking powder and mix gently.
  • Grease mugs (approximately 250 ml) with margarine and flour. Pour the batter only until each mug is half full.
  • Microwave on medium power for about 3 minutes. Then, let the cake rest for another 5 minutes before serving.
  • For the syrup, mix all the ingredients in a microwave-safe bowl and heat on medium power for approximately 3 minutes. Then, pour over the still-warm cakes.

Tips to make your cake even tastier!

Cooking time may vary depending on the microwave's power. Therefore, keep an eye on the final minutes and do the toothpick test to check if the dough is fully cooked.

If you want to enhance the recipe, you can add chocolate chips to the batter or finish the cake with sprinkles, chocolate shavings, chopped strawberries, or a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

How do I store mug cake?

Ideally, the cake should be consumed soon after preparation, when it is softest and fluffiest. If there are any leftovers, keep them refrigerated in a sealed container for up to two days.

When it's time to serve again, simply reheat it for a few seconds in the microwave to restore the texture and enjoy the dessert as if it had just come out of the oven.
