Teeling Small Batch gets Santa Teresa rum cask finish
The latest release from Irish whiskey maker Teeling was created in partnership with Venezuelan rum producer Santa Teresa 1796.

Teeling Small Batch Whiskey Santa Teresa 1796 is a limited edition release that is bottled at 46% ABV without chill filtration.
Alex Chasko, master distiller at Teeling Whiskey, said: “At Teeling, we’ve always believed that great whiskey comes from exploring new possibilities.
“Working with Santa Teresa master blender Nancy Duarte and the team at Santa Teresa has allowed us to create something truly unique.
“The influence of the Santa Teresa rum casks brings remarkable depth and character to our Small Batch whiskey, while respecting the spirit and personality that Teeling whiskey is known for.”
For this particular collaboration, Teeling swapped the usual Caribbean rum casks used to mature its Small Batch whiskey for hand-selected solera rum casks from Santa Teresa.
The resulting flavour profile includes aromas of caramel, honey and dark chocolate, orchard fruit and malt character. The palate is said to bring notes of vanilla, dried apricot, figs and warm spice, with dried fruits, cinnamon, creamy barley and subtle oak on the finish.
The launch is marked by a partnership with Goal to support communities impacted by the recent earthquakes in Venezuela. Teeling and Santa Teresa have created a commemorative bottle set for €100 (US$114), and net proceeds from the first 100 sets sold to be donated to Goal.
