Crepes, Waffles, Donuts

This year, I completely missed Candlemas. I'm only making up for it now, but in the end, it's not so bad because I can celebrate the arrival of spring with the first strawberries. 😋 I topped my crepes with dulce de leche (caramel works really well too!). I served them.

I've had fluffy pancakes on my "Recipes to Try" list for far too long! And tomorrow's Candlemas finally convinced me. Fluffy pancakes originate from Japan, somewhere between pancakes and a soufflé. It's the addition of beaten egg whites to the batter that gives them that airy texture.

When I see all the pancake recipes on the blog, I think it's safe to say I love them! And I hope you do too. I absolutely have to try the fluffy pancakes, but that'll have to wait. I'll share them here if they turn out well. In the meantime...

Next Tuesday is Mardi Gras. So to celebrate it properly, I'm offering you a delicious recipe for plain doughnuts, soft as can be! No need for a deep fryer, you can perfectly well use a large saucepan filled with frying oil for cooking, as I did (even though I have a nice deep fryer, that's something).

Next Sunday is Candlemas. There are already plenty of crêpe recipes on the blog. Waffle and pancake recipes too. So I wanted to share a recipe from elsewhere. I chose Poffertjes, Dutch pancakes, somewhere between a pancake and a blini.

I know some of you have been waiting for this butternut pancake recipe, since it was the recipe I was battling with for cappuccino panna cotta on Instagram. It took me a while to get around to posting it, I'm sorry. But here it is at last. It's a pretty quick recipe to make; you just blend everything and...

While cleaning out my freezer to make some space, I found some waffles. The perfect opportunity to make myself a delicious little dessert inspired by Black Forest cake, with vanilla whipped cream, chocolate, and kirsch-soaked cherries.

I can't start this article without thanking you from the bottom of my heart for all your messages of support. It means so much in these times. As I mentioned in my last article, my partner recently discovered he has food intolerances. This was thanks to a test...

The contest is over and the winners are: Angie, Christou, and Adélaïde! Congratulations and thank you for participating! If you were planning to watch your figure this year, I don't think reading my blog will help! It's hard to get more regressive than that.

These pretty little North African pancakes are very easy to make. They're also called Baghrirs or Beghrirs. Their distinctive feature is the small holes created by the addition of baking powder and yeast. They're traditionally served with a mixture of honey and melted butter, but (again) I tend to prefer them plain.
