Classic fried egg sandwiches

Method of preparation

In a deep bowl, beat the eggs with a wire whisk or fork. Gradually add the fresh milk, stirring constantly until the mixture is completely homogeneous.

Then add the flour and baking powder, which help the mixture become fluffier during frying. Add the salt and sugar, which balance the taste of the fried slices. Mix well until you get a smooth and slightly thick mixture without lumps.

Dip the slices of bread one by one into the egg mixture. It is important to coat each slice well on both sides, but without letting it get too soggy.

Heat a sufficient amount of oil in a frying pan. When the oil is well heated, carefully place the soaked slices in the pan.

Fry the slices over medium heat until the bottom side is golden brown and crispy. Then turn them over and fry the other side until evenly golden.

The finished fried slices are removed on kitchen paper to drain excess fat.

Classic fried egg sandwiches are served warm, immediately after preparation.

For a sweet snack, they can be sprinkled with powdered sugar, honey, jam, or maple syrup. For a savory version, they can be served with cheese, yellow cheese, tomatoes, or yogurt.

They are best eaten immediately after cooking. If you have leftovers, they can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 1 day and reheated slightly in a pan or oven.
