Waffles with strawberries

Waffles with strawberries make everyone happy – we could eat them as a snack, dessert, and even for lunch. But they are extra festive when served as breakfast in bed for Mother's Day. This link opens in a new tab! These waffles are easy to make and look beautiful.

Ingredients · Servings 8
  • 250 g self-rising flour
  • 100 g butter
  • 60 ml whole milk
  • 1 egg (medium)
  • 100 g sugar cubes
  • 40 g white granulated sugar
  • 100 g granulated sugar
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • cooking spray or sunflower oil (to grease the waffle iron)
  • strawberries (or other red fruit)
  • cream
Method · 40 min
  1. Mix the butter with the brown sugar and salt until smooth. Mix in the egg and the milk.
  2. Sift the flour over a bowl and add it to the butter mixture little by little. Chop the sugar cubes coarsely and knead them into the dough.
  3. Form 8 balls from the dough and place them on a plate.
  4. Turn on the waffle iron and let it heat up. Grease the waffle iron with some cooking spray. Place a ball of dough in the center of the waffle iron and close it. Bake the waffle until golden brown in about 4 minutes. Bake the rest of the waffles in the same way. If necessary, grease the waffle iron with some cooking spray or sunflower oil in between batches.
  5. Place the waffles on a small plate. Serve with the fruit and whipped cream.
