Chocolate Chip Banana Bread

This banana bread is rich, moist, and perfectly sweet, with a hint of caramel from the brown sugar and bursts of chocolate in every bite. The bananas lend a natural sweetness and tender texture, while the chocolate chips add a delicious depth that complements the banana flavor beautifully.

Ingredients
  • 3 ripe bananas (mashed)
  • 170 g butter (melted)
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar (packed)
  • 50 g granulated sugar (aka 1/4 cup)
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 180 g all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 1/2 cup chocolate chip (use less if desired, or substitute with nuts)
Method
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a loaf pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, mash bananas with a fork until smooth.
  3. Add brown sugar, granulated sugar, salt, and melted butter to the bananas. Whisk until well combined.
  4. Whisk in eggs and vanilla until the mixture is smooth.
  5. Gradually fold in flour and baking soda until just combined. Add 1 cup of chocolate chips, stirring gently—do not overmix.
  6. Pour batter into the prepared loaf pan and sprinkle the remaining chocolate chips on top.
  7. Bake for 45-55 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  8. Allow to cool slightly before slicing. Enjoy!
  • Brown Sugar & Granulated Sugar: Using both sugars creates a balanced sweetness and texture. Brown sugar adds moisture and a subtle caramel note, while granulated sugar keeps the sweetness just right.
  • Bananas: The key ingredient, bananas add moisture, natural sweetness, and a classic flavor. Make sure to use ripe bananas for the best taste.
  • Melted Butter: Melted butter brings a rich, buttery flavor and ensures a soft, tender crumb. Using it melted makes mixing quick and easy.
  • Eggs: Eggs provide structure and stability, helping the bread rise and giving it a soft, cohesive texture.
  • Chocolate Chips: These add bursts of sweetness and rich chocolate flavor. Feel free to adjust the amount based on your preference or substitute with nuts like walnuts or pecans for added crunch.

Why You’ll Love It

This banana bread is easy to make and full of flavor, with a moist, tender texture and just the right amount of sweetness. It’s versatile, too—whether you prefer a decadent, chocolatey loaf or a nuttier version with added crunch, you can adjust the chocolate chips or add your favorite mix-ins. Plus, it’s a perfect way to use up overripe bananas, turning them into a comforting treat the whole family will love.
