Jordi Roca transforms PlayStation into ice cream for its 30th anniversary
What does a video game taste like? Jordi Roca has set out to answer that question with a limited collection of five artisanal ice creams that pay homage to PlayStation, which celebrates its 30th anniversary this year.
Available exclusively during the month of September at Rocambolesc ice cream shops in Girona and Barcelona, the collection is inspired by iconic titles from the gamer universe such as Gran Turismo, The Last of Us, Astro Bot, Ghost of Yōtei and a special ice cream bar dedicated to the iconic console controller.
Each recipe has been handcrafted, with molds designed exclusively for the occasion and flavors that seek to translate the aesthetic and emotional universe of each game into the language of artisan ice cream.
The ice creams of the PlayStation universe:
PlayStation Buttons Polo: A colorful tribute to the DualSense controller. Set on a yogurt base, the symbols take on a flavorful character: a mint triangle, a strawberry circle, a blue milk X with spirulina, and a pink strawberry square with rose.
The Last of Us: milk and biscuit in a popsicle as sweet as it is unsettling, inspired by the iconic survival game.
Astro Bot: water ice with banana, blueberries and coconut, with a chocolate coin hidden inside, just like in the game itself.
Ghost of Yōtei: Lychee and sake evoke Japanese landscapes and culture in this adventure-themed ice cream. It coincides with the release of the video game of the same name, scheduled for October 2nd.
Soft Gran Turismo: a creamy ice cream served fresh, with black sesame, passion fruit, cotton candy, and crunchy icicles. Topped with a wheel-shaped cookie and the PlayStation logo in chocolate.
Priced at €7, this limited edition combines gamer nostalgia with pastry innovation, in a project that connects cutting-edge gastronomy with contemporary pop culture.
A relationship that goes beyond the game
This isn't the first time Jordi Roca has collaborated with PlayStation. In April of this year, the chef presented a chocolate Easter cake shaped like the console's iconic controller, which went viral on social media.
With this initiative—presented on September 11 at PlayStation's Madrid offices—the company not only celebrates its legacy but also reinforces its influence on global culture. And it does so in partnership with one of the biggest names in pastry, demonstrating that playing and savoring can perfectly be part of the same experience.
