To make the dough, start by combining the ingredients in a bowl, plus the liquids (vegetable drink (or milk) and yogurt), the sugar, and the flour. Beat with a stand mixer (or by hand) until smooth. Add the yeast and mix again.
You can store it in the refrigerator like the original recipe, but I let it rise outside for only 1 hour, until it has doubled in volume (if you use brewer's yeast).
If you're using baking powder, you can form balls and place them directly on the baking sheet while you prepare the icing.
Then form a ball and place it on a baking tray (if necessary and the dough sticks, you can add a little more flour)
I made the topping exactly like the original… I heated the plant-based drink until it boiled and removed it from the heat.
I added the other ingredients, except the grated coconut, and brought to a boil until it thickened a bit.
Remove from the heat, add the grated coconut and mix again.
Place the topping on the balls and bake for 15-20 minutes (180°C).
Let it cool and sprinkle with icing sugar.
