The Forest Treasures Festival returns to Boveglio, with honey as the star

See you on Sunday (September 27) with a craft market, street food and a visit to a centuries-old chestnut grove.

The Forest Treasures Festival returns to Boveglio di Villa Basilica next Sunday (September 27). This year, it's dedicated to honey.

From 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m., Piazza Cristoforo Colombo and the surrounding area will be livened up by a varied artisanal market and street food offering plenty of delicious food. Throughout the day, adults and children alike will be able to enjoy themselves with Ridolina, a volunteer association whose work draws inspiration from laughter therapy and which primarily works in hospital wards and all social and healthcare settings through the use of clowns.

Inside the theater, in the square, there will be a special journey to discover the fabulous world of bees and honey production, featuring photos, videos, and tools of the trade. In the early afternoon, starting at 3:30 pm, you can visit the beautiful centuries-old chestnut grove near the village, with a short lesson on chestnut trees and chestnut blossoms led by forestry doctor Massimo Giambastiani. The tour is free and open to everyone, adults and children alike. To participate, each participant must bring a spare pair of shoes in a tightly sealed bag. The meeting point is at the Altopiani Association stand in Piazza Colombo.

"Due to the presence of swine fever in our area, which, as we know, doesn't affect humans, but only domestic pigs and wild boars," explains Katia Sebastiani, president of Altopiani Officina Futura, "we must follow a few simple rules issued by the health service. Since we'll be crossing a wooded area to reach the monumental chestnut grove, we'll simply need to change our shoes before returning to town once the trek is over, and then wash and disinfect the ones we used in the woods at home. There's nothing difficult about it, and we'll explain everything to you at the start, but it's important that all participants remember to bring a change of footwear."

The Forest Treasures Festival is organized by the Altopiani association together with a group of Boveglio residents and is sponsored by the Municipality of Villa Basilica. In case of rain, the event will be postponed to the following Sunday, October 4th.
