“Lord and here I wanted to cut down on sweets before Christmas. We’ll try again in January,”
  • The massive seasonal dessert weighs around 4.5 pounds and features pumpkin cheesecake, pumpkin whipped topping, and graham cracker crumbles.
  • Costco changed the dessert last year, but that hasn’t stopped fans from celebrating its return.

I know September technically marks the beginning of fall, but Costco’s bakery department has its own way of telling us summer is over: The Kirkland Signature Pumpkin Cheesecake is officially back. The seasonal dessert has started popping up at Costco warehouses just in time for fall, and this is certainly not a cheesecake for one.

The massive dessert weighs around 4.5 pounds and features a sweet graham cracker crust, pumpkin cheesecake, pumpkin whipped topping, and toasted graham cracker crumbles. Naturally, Costco shoppers are already preparing accordingly. “That’s it, going to buy all of them, and put into individual servings and freeze them!” one person commented on an Instagram post announcing its return.

“Lord and here I wanted to cut down on sweets before Christmas. We’ll try again in January,” another joked.

Another shopper summed up their feelings with a Futurama meme reading, “SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!” The excitement comes despite Costco making a fairly noticeable change to the beloved dessert last year. When the 2025 version arrived, shoppers noticed less cheesecake filling and a much thicker layer of pumpkin whipped topping.

The topping around the edge had changed, too. One Reddit user described the new top layer as “more airy and less tart.” The change was divisive.

While some shoppers actually preferred the new version, others weren’t convinced. “Bring back the old recipe!” one person wrote, while another said the updated dessert tasted more like pumpkin pie than cheesecake. Based on Costco’s current description, it appears that version is sticking around this year. The returning cheesecake is once again described as having pumpkin whipped topping and toasted graham crumbles rather than the topping found on the older version.

Recipe controversy aside, fans clearly aren’t holding a grudge. And considering one shopper is already planning to stockpile and freeze individual slices, you might want to grab yours before they do.
