4 slices of stale bread or loaf pan or sandwich bread 2 eggs 100 ml of milk Unsweetened cocoa powder 1 banana A spoonful of sugar A teaspoon of vanilla extract Butter to taste for greasing the pan

For the cream

  • 500ml whole milk
  • 6 egg yolks
  • 150g sugar
  • 50g flour
  • 50g cocoa powder
  • 100g dark chocolate, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Making Chocolate and Banana French Toast

To make these delicious and unique chocolate toasts, first prepare the cream by whisking the egg yolks and sugar together in a bowl until creamy. Add the sifted flour and cocoa powder, continuing to mix well until smooth and free of lumps.

In a small saucepan, bring the milk to a boil over medium heat. Remove from the heat and gradually add it to the eggs, sugar, flour, and cocoa, stirring vigorously to prevent lumps. Return everything to the saucepan and cook over low heat, stirring gently until the mixture begins to thicken. Add the chopped dark chocolate and vanilla extract and stir until the chocolate is completely melted. Continue cooking over low heat for another 2-3 minutes, stirring constantly, until the mixture becomes thick and smooth. Then turn off the heat and set aside.

In a bowl, whisk the eggs, milk, sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth. Thinly slice the banana and dip the bread slices in the egg and milk mixture, making sure they're completely coated. Heat a nonstick skillet over medium-low heat and add a small amount of butter to grease the pan. Place the dipped bread slices directly into the hot pan and cook for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden and crispy. When the toasts are ready, remove from the heat and place them on a plate. Fill them with the chocolate spread and banana and decorate with a dusting of powdered sugar or cocoa powder. Enjoy!
