How do I clean the sofa?

Cleaning a sofa at home easily and effectively

The sofa in our home is, most of the time, the center of the house. It is the place where we sit and relax, watch TV and welcome our friends. The more we use it, the more often it needs care and cleaning.

How to clean each type of sofa

Each sofa, depending on its construction materials, must be cleaned in the appropriate manner, according to the manufacturer's instructions.

If the covers are removable, you can wash them in the washing machine. If it is a leather sofa, it is enough to use special care products. Fabric sofas without removable covers are more demanding, even if they have stain-resistant fabrics.

In any case, regular cleaning is essential for freshness and hygiene.

Sofa cleaning without electrical appliances

If you don't have a vacuum cleaner or steam cleaner, there is a simple and smart solution: the lid of a pot.

Yes, you read that right — it can be transformed into a practical cleaning tool!

Materials you will need

  • 1 tablespoon liquid soap (ideally Marseille soap)
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • Hot water

The step-by-step process

  • Fill a bowl with warm water and dissolve the soap. Add the baking soda and stir until the mixture is smooth.
  • Dip the cloth into the solution and wring it out slightly — it should be damp, not dripping. Wrap it around the lid and secure it with a rubber band.
  • Holding the lid by the handle, wipe the entire surface of the sofa. Rinse the cloth, wring it out well and repeat the process for best results. Focus on the stained areas.
  • Let the sofa dry naturally.

Why regular cleaning is important

Proper cleaning of the sofa, as well as other areas of the home, such as the mattress, cabinets or the washing machine, contributes significantly to a healthy and clean environment.
